KALAMAZOO TO HOST 2019 USA CURLING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Kalamazoo, MI (October 2, 2018)  -  The USA Curling National Championship returns to Kalamazoo February 9-16 for the 2019 tournament.The teams will be competing for the USA Championship title and a chance to represent Team USA at the subsequent World Championships. 

USA Curling and the Kalamazoo Curling Club will partner with Wings Event Center and  Discover Kalamazoo to host the championship tournament at Wings Event Center.

The weeklong event will feature:

  • The top men's and women's teams in the country

  • Members of the 2018 Olympic Gold Medal team

  • Themed fan days

·      Education day - Learn curling basics

·      Patriotic Day - Show your USA pride

·      Craft Beer & Curling Festival Night - Local beer and spirit sampling

"From the first time we took the USA Curling Nationals there in 2010, Kalamazoo has been an exceptional destination for these championships," said Rick Patzke, USA Curling chief executive officer. "As the Kalamazoo slogan says, 'You'll be Back. We Promise.' With Discover Kalamazoo and the Kalamazoo Curling Club as core partners again, coupled with the dedicated staff at Wings Event Center, I have no doubt that these Nationals will be even better than the first two held there."

With the collaboration of the Kalamazoo Curling Club, Wings Event Center, USA Curling, and Discover Kalamazoo and the heightened interest in curling since the 2018 Winter Olympics, Wings Event Center expects the 2019 USA Curling National Championship to draw a substantial crowd. Wings Event Center is passionate about providing athletes from around the nation with a true Kalamazoo experience.
